Server is a computer or device on your network resources are controlled. For example, a file server is a storage device which stores files. Files can be stored on a server so that any user on the network. Similar to the print server is a computer that is running one or more printers and network traffic is monitored with a network server.
Usually servers do not fill out any other tasks other than their own jobs. On the other hand, concurrent operating systems on one computer may perform more than a few applications at the same time. Server may refer to an application that manages resources more readily than the entire computer.
Different types of servers are available here:
Proxy servers:
These devices do exist between the client application (usually a Web browser) and server (normally a server on the Internet) to sort queries, improving the functioning and link exchange.
Mail servers:
About as ubiquitous and as Web servers, email devices create and store mail through mutual network (LAN and WAN) and on the Internet.
Server platforms:
Platform is a major hardware or software and engine that runs the server.
Web servers:
At its Foundation to the Web Server provides static data in a Web browser, download the file from disk and enable it across the network to the user's Web browser. This entire Exchange is a judge of the browser and server communicate with each other using HTTP.
Application servers:
Much of the computing devices to participate in the region between database servers and end user, and they usually have two.
Database server:
The database server manages the database using the database management system SOL. client request comes in the form of salt on the server, database server access to stored data apply to the question client and provides a response back to the client.
Real time communication server (IRC servers and instant messaging (IM)):
Real time communication server allows many users to exchange information directly.
FTP (file transfer protocol) servers:
File transfer protocol moves one or more files securely between computers by providing file security and Organization in addition to the transfer of control.
Collaboration servers:
In many ways, collaboration software reveals innovative possibilities of the Internet. Collaboration software is planned to facilitate users to cooperate, despite the location in the Internet or Intranet and share mutual work in a virtual environment.
The list of servers:
List servers provide a method to better understand the distribution lists that this interactive discussions open to the public or one-way lists, speeches, a pie or publicity.
Telnet servers:
Telnet Server enables a user to log on to a computer and perform tasks, how they work on the remote computer itself.
Open source servers:
With your core open source server operating systems, server software (which helps you get your job done) open source software is an important part of many of the IT infrastructure.
